The Sydney Marathon will be added to the Abbott World Marathon Majors list, as the seventh. The other six are the Tokyo Marathon, the Boston Marathon, the London Marathon, the BERLIN-MARATHON, the Chicago Marathon and the New York City Marathon.
The Sanlam Cape Town Marathon and Shanghai Marathon will likely join the Marathon Majors list, and will be a part of the Nine Star program, for finishers of the nine majors. Abbot indicates the current Six Star program will remain in place
